Make sure the height, length and width measurements are on it, so that you can already furnish the house with your new furniture in your mind.

Note the exact dimensions of all rooms for your furniture layout.

Make sure you know what will fit through, and what might not (so what needs to come apart). Also measure height and width for curtains and blinds.

And determine whether that place is suitable for the internet modem and router, for example.

And determine whether you might need to have extra sockets installed.

Is there a gas connection or district heating?

How old is the system and does it need replacing? When was the chimney last swept?

So that you know how to use the internet, television and telephone. Also pay attention to where those connections are located.

For example, are you allowed to keep pets, install antennas or have your own business from home?

See who the cheapest energy supplier is in your new place of residence.

Check that these are working and hanging in the correct places.

This must be done no later than 5 days after moving, but can be done up to 4 weeks in advance.

Think of property tax, sewage tax, waste tax.

Do you have to separate waste? When is this (separated) collected? Request a waste pass.

And make a list of these useful addresses.

And whether you may need a parking permit for that.

Arrange parking spaces for moving van at both locations.

Think of the cleaner, the rental contract, direct debits, and, for example, a garage box.

Particularly important for rent-to-purchase: building insurance, contents insurance, life insurance.

Make sure you don't pay twice for energy, internet, etc.

Calculate how many moving boxes are needed for your move and purchase them. Start packing in the attic and storage room.

Sell them via Marktplaats or take them to the municipal yard or thrift store.

Sports clubs, music lessons or other hobbies.

Do this 2-6 weeks before the move.

A clean freezer is easier to move.

Provide enough food and drink for all helpers.

Hang the number on the doors and write the same number on the boxes intended for that room.

This makes it easier to throw away something on moving day if necessary.

Dismantle furniture in a timely manner.

You throw away more than you think.

Make sure these are easy to find.

Let the refrigerator and freezer recover at the new address and then switch them on. The manual states how long this should take.

This prevents doors and drawers from being damaged during the move.

Coffee, sandwiches, snacks.

For example, note them down in your phone and take photos as evidence.
