Checklist moving new construction

1. Communication with the builder

Keep in regular contact with the builder to stay informed about the progress of the construction and the completion date.

Ask for the necessary documents and procedures for moving to a new-build home.

2. Planning the move

Inquire about the expected delivery date of the new-build home and plan your move accordingly.

Reserve a moving van or verhuisbedrijf before the desired moving date.

3. Report address changes

Pass on your new address to authorities such as the municipality, banks, insurers, energy suppliers, telephone and internet providers, the tax authorities, your employer, etc.

Don't forget to let friends, family and important contacts know about your new address.

4. Arrange relocation insurance

Check whether your current contents insurance covers the move to the new home or arrange a new insurance policy.

Inquire about any insurance coverage for damage during the moving process.

5. Moving boxes and packing material

Make sure you have enough moving boxes, wrapping paper, bubble wrap and tape.

Clearly label the boxes with their contents and the room they are to be placed in.

6. Cleaning and preparation

Check whether the new-build home is clean and ready for occupancy.

Make any necessary adjustments, such as installing window treatments, lighting, or security systems.
