The center of Nijmegen is hilly and atmospheric with a view over the Waal. Bottendaal and the Keizer Karelplein area are popular with students. Hees and Neerbosch are more affordable family neighborhoods. Lent, on the other side of the Waal, offers modern new construction in the Waalsprong.

Radboud University and HAN are the most important educational institutions. Nijmegen has a wide range of primary and secondary schools.

Accessibility and transport
Nijmegen station offers direct trains to Arnhem (15 min), Utrecht (50 min) and Amsterdam (75 min). The city has a good bus network and is great for cycling, although the hills in the center are an extra challenge.
