After years of employment, Mr Piet van den Akker started his own company in June 1981 under the name Vd Akker's Glas- en Schilderwerken.
The company was located at Steenweg 58 in Helmond in one of the “Rust Roest” houses. The paint materials were stored in the storage room behind the house and a warehouse was rented for the glass storage on Schoolstraat in Helmond.
At the start, Mr. Van den Akker was alone and had no other employees. So he had to carry out all common painting and glass work alone. These were mainly glass work as the company already had a 24-hour glass center.
