Van der Wal painting company is a family business that dates back to 1860. The love for the profession was passed on from father to son. The 5th Van der Wal generation is now at the helm. The company has been located at Deventerweg 70 in Laren since 1963. This is where the workshop, office and shop are located.
A lot has changed over time. In the past, the painter made his own paint supply during the winter months for the summer months. His preference (and stock) was therefore often processed in that environment. Hence the regional color schemes on houses. Nowadays any desired color is available.
We can now hardly imagine how people used to get to work. With the wooden ladder on their shoulder and the pots of paint on the handlebars, they went to the customer by bicycle. What a contrast with the modern aerial platforms, mobile scaffolding and buses we now work with. Times have changed. We have moved with the times, but we have brought with us the knowledge and love for the profession.
