A floating screed floor is a cement floor that is applied to compressible insulation material. The main reason for installing a floating screed floor is insulation: acoustic insulation or thermal insulation. In the case of acoustic insulation, the screed floor may not come into contact with the supporting floor or with the walls. Special insulation must therefore be installed here. Floating screed floors are also often used with underfloor heating in combination with insulation material, but it is also possible for the sand cement to be applied directly to the underfloor heating.
