We are builders by trade. Born into a family with a large national construction company, Jan Zegers once started as a bricklayer. Given his background as a bricklayer and trader in building materials, he knows better than anyone how a house is put together and he can make a good assessment. The materials used and construction techniques also hold no secrets for him.
Jan Zegers has been active in mortgages and purchasing brokerage since 1982. When Jan started taking out insurance and mortgages in 1982 (the insurance policies are no longer in our office), a customer regularly asked whether Jan could take a look at the home they wanted to buy. One thing led to another and before he knew it he was also at the negotiating table. We have been doing business with real estate agencies in Veenendaal, Rhenen and Ede for over 40 years. A number of real estate agencies in Veenendaal have been passed on from father to son and Jan often still knows the first generation.
Jan Zegers Mortgages & Brokerage In recent years we have been asked more and more often whether we have sold homes. After being told no every time, the idea started to come to life in earnest at the end of 2020. Jan's son, Harry, worked as a real estate agent at another office and after some odd jobs came along that he did as a favor to his father, the idea came up to work together. From this, Jan Zegers Hypotheken & Makelaardij was born.
Since 2021, the office consists entirely of father and son. Jan and Harry have short lines of communication and have started together to serve customers in several areas. Mortgages, purchasing assistance and sales of homes. The office had been doing well for years in the field of mortgages and purchasing brokerage and with the arrival of Harry, Jan Zegers Hypotheken & Makelaardij became a recognized VBO real estate agency that sells homes (VBO, the association of real estate agents and appraisers) and we are at home in Veenendaal, Ede, Rhenen and the surrounding area. We also regularly buy and sell in Utrecht and Amsterdam.
The Food Bank In May 2021, Jan and Harry started supporting the Food Bank in Veenendaal. A wish that Harry has had for some time and since Jan Zegers Hypotheken & Makelaardij has been involved in society for years, this step was a move that felt right to us.
